ORRVILLE, OH (September 2005) - The makers of Crisco are branching out with the addition of a line of olive oils to their trusted family of vegetable oils, sprays and shortening. Now, home cooks in Florida will be among the first in the country to try Crisco's premium olive oil in their favorite recipes.
"The flavor and benefits of olive oil make it an ingredient that more and more consumers are adding to their diets," said Maribeth Badertscher, communications manager, The J.M. Smucker Company. "After providing home chefs with products they have come to trust for generations, we're excited to offer consumers a variety of imported premium olive oils without the premium price."
Crisco Olive Oil is available in three varieties - 100% Extra Virgin, Pure and Light - to meet every cooking need, from sautéing to roasting. The full-bodied taste of the 100% Extra Virgin variety adds a rich layer of flavor to entrees, salads and vegetables. Pure Olive Oil is ideally suited to sautéing and grilling, while the Light Olive Oil is perfect for a number of applications, including stir frying and roasting.
Crisco Olive Oil's smooth taste and pleasant aroma meets the stringent standards of the International Olive Oil Council. Olive oil has 2 grams of saturated fat per serving and zero cholesterol.
Crisco premium, imported olive oil is packaged in attractive plastic containers and is available in two convenient sizes (17-ounce and 34-ounce). The 17-ounce retails for approximately $4.59 - $4.99 and the 34-ounce retails for approximately $7.99 - $8.99. Beginning in September 2005, Crisco Olive Oil will be available at select retailers throughout Texas and Florida cities.
